Hola. So I definitely only have a few minutes to write this because Mama has dinner waiting for me at 7 en punto. That means 7 sharp because I´m going to the Cuerpo de Paz futbol game (Peace Corps soccer game). And I wish I had learned how to type without looking at the keyboard because these letters are all rubbed off at this internet cafe. Which also happens to be the house of my fellow voluntario.
So many of you are thinking what´s going on with me. It´s been a week and today is the first day I am finding out the whole internet thing. Bear with me. So I live about 2 hours north of Lima with a host family who has become my family. For real. Mama presents me as her daughter, sharing the same birth month as my sister, Lily, 14 years old. I also have a brother, Richard, who is 26. Lily is a student and Richard is a psychologist. My dad works down the hill at the country club. I live halfway up the top of a hill. A big hill.
I take the kombi every day to our PC Training Center. It´s about 10 minutes of sheer danger and pure exilaration. Sudden stops, no seatbelts, exiting a moving vehicle. Everything you´re not supposed to do in the US. I have also done everything the PC facilitadors have warned us against...eating street food, eating strawberries, and petting dogs. Oh, I´m supposed to say a disclaimer that this blog is my opinion and has nothing to do with the opinion of the Peace Corps. I will have to add that professionally when I have more time.
I am happy to report that I haven´t had any stomach issues yet. Only blogged sinuses and sore throat from the pollution. But I´m here to fix that, right? Haha. Just read that. Blocked sinuses rather. The food is amazing. I want to cry out of happiness a million times a day. Gotta go eat some deliciousness now. I will definitely gain 40 pounds.
